WILD HORSES of STAGECOACH
|
Part Fifteen
The Chaves Rd. Roans
This smaller band can occasionally be seen on the west side of Ten Mile Hill, south of US-50, between the hill and the houses on Chaves Rd. Development on the north side of US-50 has pushed out a number of the horses. Ten Mile Hill is a steep 640 acre BLM section surrounded by private land where a few horse still take refuge.

Foals blend well into the sagebrush. Can you spot the foal?

How about now?

You have to get pretty close to spot these little guys.

The light colored horse in the center is the stallion.

The band got a little restless and the foal got up. After he had stretched and "tanked up" from mom, he decided to have a little sport with dad. We didn't have the Sony Cyber Shot with the good zoom lens but we did get a few fairly legible shots of his antics.
"I'm a tough guy like you!

"Show some respect, son."

"OK, I'll hide back here."
