KBR Training Case Study

"Hope"

Part Four

Hope and Betty
Third Week of Work

More nice weather helped us out a great deal. Hope is to the point that she will stand to be haltered inside her pen. It's somewhat of a tenuous process as she is definitely on high alert and the first time or two she may need to back away, but she again faces up and is willing to try.

Jenny Morganstern hobbled in with a broken toe. Since she couldn't get her foot in a boot to ride her horse, she decided to get a "horse fix" spending some time with Hope. Hope's ability to deal with being handled by people that she doesn't see every day has been improving, and she and Jenny got in some quiet time together.

Making contact
Some nice rubs
We set up the fourth week with Hue Simpson working on some Focused Training, TTeam and Frank Bell's seven step approaches. Activities included such things as body awareness using T-touch and the wand, head lowering and relaxation and simple leading. We didn't have the camera out that day but these exercises set up what happened next.

Fourth Week of Work

Geri Perry came out to the ranch to work with Hope. We let them get acquainted and and things worked out nicely.
