"It's co-o-o-old out here!" (18 Months)

The Aikins have raised Nikia to be a horse during her first 2 years, limiting training to round pen groundwork, mount/dismount, and three easy rides. Now that she is coming three, more serious saddle training will begin. After a season of "basics" they hope to have Nikia evaluated in order to decide which riding discipline she is best suited for. With her short cannon bones and athleticism, she may be good for "all-around" or endurance. Her gait is so graceful and passage so high and light, dressage may also be an option.

The other horses in the photos are Nikia's mentor, Ginger, a 16 year old foundation QH mare adn ther best friend and fierce protector, Paco, a soon-to-be 3yr. spotted AMHA miniature stallion.
