Training Case Study:

"Brooklynn"

(Things to do until a horse is old enough to ride.)

"This is interesting..."
Brooklynn is a two year old mustang from the Slick Gardner rescue adopted by Meghan McCoy. Meghan and her mom, Dana, have put Brooklynn through a lot of general basics; lead line and ground schooling, circling, working obstacles, etc., so she is very curious and not afraid of much. In fact it was challenging to give Brooklynn new things to tackle. We decided to try Brooklynn in a circingle and driving lines to see how she would handle it, plus ground driving is a good preparation for eventual saddle work. Here are how things went.
Discussing strategy.
Dana on the lines.
Getting a little fancier.
"Hmmm. A new person back there."
Meghan on the lines.
(Not old enough to drive a Ford but old enough to drive a Mustang.)
Soon looking like a pro.
To add to everything, Brooklynn was in the process of shedding her baby teeth but she stayed focused on her lessons all the same.
"I'm just a country girl."
A treasure found. (Go call the Tooth Fairy.)
