WILD HORSES of SILVER SPRINGS
Part Five
|
Conflict Resolved
We had seen Sentinel's lead mare and her colt in Bubba's band on a couple of occasions. On August 7th we had just come back from a water run (taking water out to the emergency wildlife and wild horse tanks) and noticed Bubba's band coming in for water. Sentinel's mare and her colt were not with the group.

Curious and a little concerned I decided to check on Sentinel's band. Sentinel happened to be watching Bubba from a ridge top about two miles away.
Sentinel is the spec with legs silhouetted against a low cloud.

I drove and hiked over and found Sentinel's mares were hunkered down in a small valley seeking shelter from a thunderstorm that was forming up and spitting rain. Sentinel's mare and her yearling were back in the band, pretty much surrounded by the other horses. Since there were occasional bolts of lightning and my phone camera was not waterproof, I decided to take photos another day. I met up with Sentinel and his band, now totaling 18 head, the following Monday.
"Amazing Grace" is back as the lead mare.

Sentinel now keeping a closer watch on everyone.

Classic Sentinel. He's allowed enough time for photos. Now it's time for the band to continue on.
