  Street Light Street Views -
Old Time Survivors

Part Twenty Seven

(This is Part Twenty Seven of a Street View tour of vintage and historical street and pedestrian lights for enthusiasts to view and in hopes of encouraging cities and towns to preserve some of these old luminaires and electroliers, or at least choose replicas that reflect the character of historic districts when modernizing their lighting. The images link to Google Street Views to make it easy to "look around" if an image interests you. The photos begin in Part One.)

  San Juan, PR

As in most cities, San Juan has modernized most of its street lighting to HPS, and more recently, LEDs. However there are still pockets of old luminaires and electroliers that can be found if we look hard enough.

Almost all of these lamps have lost their diffusing glass. (Calle Europa and Avenida Diego)

Originally incandescent, an HPS bulb can be seen. (Calle Europa and Avenida Diego)
