Old Time Survivors

(This is Part Twelve of a Street View tour of vintage and historical street and pedestrian lights for enthusiasts to view and in hopes of encouraging cities and towns to preserve some of these old luminaires and electroliers, or at least choose replicas that reflect the character of historic districts when modernizing their lighting. Mission Bell Street Lights

Mission bell street lights were once common along and proximate to the old El Camino Real (King's Highway.) In the earlier days they were series incandescent, then upgraded to mercury vapor, then HPS. These lamps are very historically popular and many are now being retrofitted with LED packs. Photo controls that were added when the lamps were converted to 110 volts can be spotted on many of the pole caps.

Getting a bit rusty but still in service. (Camino Capistrano)

Lamps at intersections still have refracting glass. (Camino Capistrano and Avenida Golondrina)
