Sunday on Southwest Blend

Lacy, Craig and Willis will be on Southwest Blend Magazine's "Champagne Sundays" radio show that airs between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, obviously on Sunday. The Virginia Range horse issue will be introduced around 11:45.

Since going to paperless (web) publication, Southwest Blend's readership has grown to something like 1.6 million readers. The radio show can actually be heard any time as it is streamed from the Southwest Blend web site.

More views of the range

When the volunteers go out and work on the range they often take photos of the animals, range conditions and so forth, but their focus is on how the range is doing, recording the condition of the animals, counting animals, checking on water sources and removing discarded trash that could be hazardous to wildlife. The photos from the volunteers, while useful, are often just taken for practical purposes.

There are also some pretty good photographers who explore the range with an eye for capturing the real beauty of Nevada, its wildlife and its wild horses. They focus on photographic technique and producing some real art. Last week we posted some great photos by Anne Hall. This week's collage is provided by Carrol Abel. We plan on posting some good quality photographs such as these at least once a week.

Please note that these are just a small sampling of what our local photographers have captured, and the images posted to the web are compressed so that folks on dial-up can get them to load in a reasonable amount of time. The originals are high quality and drop dead gorgeous.

In a couple of weeks we'll organize an on-line gallery of range photographs with links that can be used to contact the photographers in the event anyone wishes to acquire a "frame quality" full size high resolution of anything found in the gallery. In the meanwhile, enjoy Carrol's work.
