Gene Glasscock's Prayer

Lord, let me be like the Mustang who gave his heart to me.
Let me follow you where ever you lead me or stay where you would have me to be.

Lord let me be like my Mustang who gave up his will to kick or bite,
to follow where I lead, always ready for a hike.

Lord train me to follow you in all my ways so you can be gentle and never need a spur,
So I can mak you proud, not wish to treat me like a cur.

Lord make me like my Mustang always trying to please me,
So Lord let e always seek to please Thee.

In Thy Will Dear Lord is where I want to be.
Lord, let me please Thee.

Lord like my Mustang is to me, I would be to you,
Always loyal and true, just waiting for your cue.

  Preparing the Horses

May 1, 2007

King and Poker have had a busy week so far and are adjusting to the celebrity life. (Well, King pretty much snoozes and Poker looks for any attention that he can get.)

King was relayed to KBR in Knightsen, CA., to meet up with Poker. They both traveled to Stagecoach, NV. on Monday. On Tuesday they had their veterinary checkup, blood drawn and health certificates issued. If that wasn't enough, KRNV (Reno Channel 4) came out and filmed a story on the mustangs and a related event, the Reno Marathon de Mayo, a charity marathon that this year will benefit wild horse preservation projects.

Lacy J. Dalton representing the Let 'Em Run Foundation and Willis Lamm representing Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) spoke on camera. King and Poker represented the horses.

"Yes, Poker, you get poked too."

King and Poker were next outfitted with special horseshoes with tungsten applied to the surfaces for greater shoe life in this kind of a ride. Then they were transported to Ferndale, WA by Cathy Davis and Bill Adams along with some mules headed to a mule competition.

Gene plans to work with King and Poker, plus a third horse that he will acquire in Washington State, for about 3 weeks to get them used to working together. Once weather permits safe travel in the mountains, Gene will begin his trek.
