KBR / LRTC Training Case Study"Nani" and "Spring"Part Six |
"This is pretty cool!"

(Continued from Part Five.)
Turnout! The rain held off on April 23rd so we were able to work with the pair some more. This time we'd see how they would do turned out for the first time in the large arena. We'd been practicing in the round pen calling Nani up to have her lead attached and it was time to see if that behavior would carry over to the arena. They were both a little reluctant at first to step off the grass into the arena sand, but pretty soon they felt comfortable about it. Before long they were exploring all about. Spring finally broke loose from her mom and raced around the arena, bucking and kicking and playing. When I finally went back in to get Nani she decided she needed to run a little herself. At first I was afraid she wouldn't want to be caught, however after she ran a few laps with Spring close by her side she came right up and we headed back home.
