Lucky with the group at twilight
|
Since Lucky could handle us somewhat converging into his space, we placed him in the Safe Squeeze. This was still a tricky process as Lucky was still very volatile. We approached him much the same way as we did using the "101" methods. Lucky's progress in the squeeze is recorded here. Within a couple of sessions we could halter him. |
Humans on both sides!
|
Since the "101" activities included learning to yield to pressure and lead on the neck loop, the transition to being in halter was an easy one. After just a few minutes of practice in the round pen, we walked out through the stable and over to the Horse Course. Lucky's progress with the obstacles is recorded here. |
First time over the bridge
|
Pretty soon all the volunteers were taking Lucky out and working with him, and
pretty soon Lucky started enjoying all the attention and activities.

We put the Olympic horses in body wraps to prepare them for saddling. We figured that we would do that with Lucky too! | |
