KBR Training Case Study:

"Keno"
Part Thirteen

Keno in Utah

Wild Horse Mentors Cliff and Janet Tipton dropped into the ranch for a few days. Cliff was immediately taken by Keno. Amazingly, the ordinarily aloof Keno was taken by Cliff. He could walk right into her pen, she would greet him, and she would let him handle her, pick up her feet, etc. We were all astonished.

Cliff was genuinely interested in Keno so we let the Tiptons have her. To get her to Utah, we met at a weekend workshop we held with the Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association where we used Keno and some local Comstock wild horses in some demonstrations.

Keno seems to have settled in well in Utah. She immediately took charge of the herd there and is the herd "protector." She can also be saddled and ridden right up into the mountains which has been good for her development. Keno and her buddy Ladybug will be ridden in the opening ceremonies for the Paralympics which follows the Salt Lake Winter Games in 2002.

Keno seems also quite smitten with Cliff's daughter Becky.
