High Desert Kigers
Part Three

1998 Babies

High Desert Miguel ("Mikey")

Pam describes Mikey as a real character and always into everything, opening gates, pushing down rails, stepping in >feed buckets, etc.

We had the pleasure of Mikey visiting us at Wild Horse Workshop '98 in Antioch, CA. He took all of the activity in stride and was an angel for the week. He is very willing and friendly and is going to make a nice big gelding.

Pam is going to offer him for sale.

High Desert Prieto (Pete) with his mom

Pam writes: "This colt really has an exceptional disposition and is very friendly and a quick learner. I am planning on taking him to the Kiger Fest 7/11-12 in Redmond OR. He is a very dark grulla, almost black, with no white at all and should be good sized. He is for sale but I am not too anxious to sell him as I don't know of another one like him in captivity and he might just need to stay a stud. The good disposition is certainly there, we'll just have to see if he grows up like I think he will."

I can't say as I've seen one colored quite like him either.

Pete's dam was was born in captivity but bred in the Riddle HMA. His sire is Manny.

High Desert Regalo

This colt is a dun with no white and should be good sized. He has good bone and a pretty head. His dam was from the Kiger HMA and his sire is Manny.

He was the very last of Pam's babies to get halter broke last year but has turned out to be the sweetest and easiest little horse to get along with. After about two days you could go out in the pasture and catch him and lead him anywhere, pick up his feet, load him in the trailer, whatever. He is a really sweet colt.

Pam says he is for sale, also.

High Desert Tesora (Tess) and her mom

This filly is a dun with no white. She is very petite and has a pretty head. She has tons of blonde in her mane and tail and should have plenty of stripes (they don't usually show yet at this age). Her dam is from the Riddle HMA and her sire is Manny. She should be about 14.1.

She was a little pistol to start with but now you can't get her out of your back pocket. She has turned into a downright nuisance.

Hmmm... Pam says she's for sale. Sounds like the little brat is growing on her.

High Desert Mariposa and her mom

This filly is 1/2 Kiger and 1/2 SE Oregon Warm Springs. Her mom is Clyde's mom. (Clyde is pictured in the gallery with Pam's little boy), and her sire is Pam's stallion. She is really a pretty filly with a very pretty head. Again, no white, which surprised everyone because her mom is basically a pinto. She has a nice disposition and will be about 15 hands, maybe a little taller. She is a red dun. Pam really likes this one and I think we know why!

All these babies except the red dun filly are pure Kiger and all are eligible for registry with the SMKR. They are also registered with the KMA except for Pete because we didn't know what color he was.
