  Econolites in the "Wild"

(Continued from the Econolite 12-8-8 Page.)

The 12-8-8 configuration of Econolite was used extensively in California. Standards called for 12 inch red sections facing streets with speed limits over 40 MPH and 12 inch red sections were used on almost all mast arm signals no matter what the speed limit. Also arrow sections were required to be 12 inches so the reverse configurations of 8-8-12 were common for protected left turn pockets. Eventually most mast arm signals went to all 12 inch sections, and a number of Econolite's 12 inch "bullseye" sections were used to make complete signals.
