Horse Abuse in Texas?

  ALLEGATIONS SURFACE REGARDING THE CONDITION
AND TREATMENT OF WILD HORSES AT RAY FIELD'S
WILD HORSE FOUNDATION

Part Two

"This is one of the several foals from pairs he had. They have the "N" on neck. This colt is wormy, ears bent over, hind ankle joint would pop in and out could not keep weight on his foot and walks with a limp. Ray claims he was this way when he got him in March or July. "Still wild, hooves really long and Ray doesn't know what is wrong since he has not been seen by a vet."
Condition of some pregnant mares
"Both of these foals were born here. Mares are way under weight for being there at least 6 months. Foals are very wormy looking, really thin pencil necks, of course the hooves had not been done on any of them which is not that bad of a thing when you have lots of area for them to be in but these are kept in a pen."
"Unhealthy looking NDA horses."
"This is a colt I worked with. The colt had a fever, flies were so bad all over his eyes and nose area. His nose had yellow discharge. I had to leave this colt with a rope halter and drag rope on and he was going in the pen with another filly with a rope halter and drag on. I felt so bad for these foals, hooves long, wormy and starved of quality feed and hay."
Another view of the sickly colt being sent out for an adoption.

Several WHB organizations have taken in weak horses, some in much worse condition than Field's, and they are now active, healthy and in great overall condition. The Kiger colt that came from the Reno Expo was clearly in healthy condition when released to Field. There is clearly no excuse for the horses in the previous photographs to be in the condition in which they were found.

Playful mares from the infamous Fish Creek rescue that were acquired in dreadful condition
and rehabilitated at Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue in Lancaster, CA.
